NEURON publishes advertisements for positions available and for announcements of meetings, symposia, and courses. The 1995 rates are $175 for a quarter page, $305 for ahalfpage, and $575 for a full page. :W~e will accept either camera-ready material by mail, or copy to be typeset by mall or fax. ffyou choose to have your ad typeset by NEURON, the size of the ad will be determined by the number of words in the copy; quarter page ads contain up to 130 words, half page ads contain 131-240 words, and full page ads contain 241-500 words. All camera-ready materials must be received in one of the specified size dimensions. A quarter page ad must be 3" by 4 1/2", a half page ad must be 6 l/2" by 4 1/2;', or 3" by 9 1/4" (vertical), and a full page ad must be 6 1/2" by 9 1/4". Always include a billing address, a purchase order number, and aname, address, and telephone number of a contact person with your ad materials. All overseas clients must send prepayment with their advertising materials. Nominations and applications are requested for a chairperson to lead the growth and development of a newly created Department of Neurobiology in the School of Medicine. The department will occupy new research space in the~ recently constructed Biomedical Science Tower, The ideal candidate will hold an advanced degree (Ph.D.k M.D. or both and will have a vigorous research program at the molecular and cellular level, with demonstrated leadership ability in fostering faculty development and graduate and medical student education, and bridging basic and clinical sciences. We are particularly interested in promoting further in the area of developmental neurobiology, although candidates actively researching other areas of neurobiology will be considered. The new chairperson will be~ responsible for faculty recruitment and for interfacing the department with various University of Pittsburgh Medical Center departments, institutes and centers. This twelve-month tenured professor position will have a salary commensurate with the experience of the individual and can be occupied as soon as possible.
